PLDT scores Sun for 50

PLDT recently announced its largest business actions in the field of communication. It reported that they acquired SUNCELLULAR (DIGITEL) to 51.55% of its stakes. Are there any down turn for this breaking news?

Smart and Sun recent merging is not a vague scenario for an upcoming monopoly of business communication. This can threaten customers, and most of Sun's subscribers can be affected if standard pricing of services will be copied from Smart's. Globe might also consider this as a threat to their position.

We customers can be directly affected by its merging. Probably good effect can be experienced, if their service offerings will be enhanced such as, more area coverage for Sun. Meanwhile, Smart can offer a much lower pricing for its call and text services like Sun's or even offer pocket-friendly unlimited services for call, text and broadband services.

In contrast, since this can be pictured as nearing a monopoly, pricing of their services can be standardized that this may affect us. We might pay more for the services we need and end up losing our grounds for a better and healthy lifestyle that greatly depends on these communication services.

It is all about the money. It is all about revenues that this business giant is thinking. May it be that this will start a healthy competition among Communication Businesses in the Philippines and that we can benefit from this recent news.
